RESIDENTIAL TREATMENT
Residential services are provided at our Bates Campus for men and women age eighteen and older. Treatment is delivered within the context of a therapeutic community working together to achieve recovery goals. Treatment is delivered through small group, lecture, educational groups, and individual counseling in addition to a host of therapeutic community activities. Attendance at 12-Step meetings, multi family groups, and family involvement are key program components. Client to staff ratio for residential services is 10:1. Each unit offers semi-private rooms with common day rooms, laundry facilities, and recreation areas.
The residential living program at Decision Point offers clients the opportunity to practice new living skills in a safe, therapeutic environment, which has shown to improve long-term sobriety in persons suffering from substance abuse or addiction. Residential treatment can follow Detox, or clients who do not require modified medical detoxification, can be admitted directly into the Residential program.
Each resident is assigned a counselor who with the client, designs an individualized treatment plan to address that client's particular needs. The program is designed to explore self-defeating behavior, provide support, identify defense mechanisms and the elements of denial a client might employ to remain locked in his or her cycle of addiction. The disease of addiction is studied along with the many other facets of substance related disorders. The client's emotional and intellectual barriers to sustained recovery are explored. Personal experiences, the individual's strengths and support systems are all seen as integral elements utilized to help the client achieve a clean sober lifestyle. Relapse prevention plans are developed to minimize relapses, and when relapse has occurred, the triggers are explored so that the client can gain insight from these choices.
During their treatment program, clients receive a minimum of 28 treatment hours per week that consist of individual, group and multi family sessions. Clients are urged to attend AA and NA meetings during their stay to familiarize themselves with this valuable support network for use after discharge. Individual case management services are provided along with medication management, if indicated.
The facility offers a comfortable atmosphere with spacious private and semi-private rooms. The separate men's and women's units offer clients privacy as well as the opportunity to explore safe interpersonal relationships, gain feedback and insight from peers, and enjoy a common experience. Many times the structure of the unit, the community atmosphere and client government all contribute to the development of new social skills and self-esteem. These elements are often lacking, or have become dormant in an individual suffering from the very isolating disease of drug addiction.
