SPECIALIZED WOMEN'S SERVICES
Specialized Women’s Services for pregnant mothers and women with children up to age six are provided for up to twelve months. This program offers addicted mothers the opportunity to receive a broad range of alcohol, drug, medical, mental health, prenatal care, and ancillary services while residing with their children in a safe, therapeutic, nurturing, and structured environment.
Any woman finding herself in a situation where drugs and alcohol threaten her safety or the safety of her fetus or young children may seek these services. The cycle of addiction, poverty, crime, abuse and neglect, and unemployment will continue unless hope can be restored. Decision Point can teach women how to break this cycle one day at a time..... for a lifetime.
SWS residents make a commitment of a six month stay and have the option to stay up to a year if still in need of services and working on goals. Clients are self-referred and ask for help; are suggested to come by their probation/parole officers, family, or DHS caseworkers; or may even be court-ordered by a judge to attend treatment.
Our clients are suffering from the disease of addiction and their symptoms are affecting all other areas of their life due to the unmanageability of the disease if left untreated. Clients have to accept that they have a problem and work very hard to overcome the physical, mental, social, familial, psychological, cognitive, and societal effects that drugs and alcohol have had over them. They have to change everything in their lives to have a successful remission, not cure, of the disease of addiction.
Our program looks at more than just staying off of drugs and alcohol. We address their parenting, social, living, career, relationship, and communication skills as well as having intensive case management services to address any financial, medical, legal, administrative, or other needs the client and her children may experience. This safe, therapeutic environment allows these mothers the opportunity to work as hard as they are willing to change their lives and those of their children for the better while having individual counseling and daily support.
